Maintaining accurate information is essential to protect the integrity of our customers' records. Settlers Bank takes precautions, in accordance with reasonable commercial standards, to ensure information is accurate, current and complete. If we are made aware of any inaccurate information, we have procedures in place to correct this information in a timely manner.
Restricted Access to Confidential Information
Settlers Bank takes the privacy expectations of our customers seriously. We restrict access to nonpublic (confidential) personal information about our customers only to those employees who need to know that information in order to provide products or services to our customers. Further, each director, officer and employee has been made aware of their responsibility to respect the privacy concerns of our customers and to safeguard nonpublic personal information. Any breach of our privacy policy is grounds for disciplinary action.
Disclosure of Customer Account Information
When it comes to disclosing customer information to unaffiliated companies, Settlers Bank places strict limits on who receives specific information about customer accounts or other personally identifiable data.
In some instances, it may be necessary to exchange information with reputable information reporting agencies in order to maximize the accuracy and security of our customer’s personal information.
In general, however, we will not disclose any account information, account number or similar form of access number or access code or other personally identifiable information to any nonaffiliated third party unless one of the following applies:
- The information is provided to help complete a customer-initiated transaction
- The customer specifically requests and authorizes the disclosure of information
- The disclosure is required or allowed by law. We may be legally required or permitted to release certain customer information in response to judicial processes, such as a subpoena, a writ of suggestion, garnishment, a fraud investigation, or to comply with requests for information from government agencies or federal regulators in accordance with the Right to Financial Privacy Act or other federal or state banking laws and regulations.
If you decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices described in this notice.
Maintaining Customer Privacy in Business Relationships With Third Parties
Settlers Bank is diligent when it comes to the selection of the companies with which we business. We ensure that these companies are obligated to adhere to the same strict standard of confidentiality that we maintain regarding the privacy of personally identifiable information provided to them, and we have covenants in our agreements with such companies that enable us to enforce those standards.
